Anden’s History
In the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, Andy Spriet and Dennis Plowright had the good fortune of each marrying DeBock sisters… Helen and Joyce. Andy was a consulting engineer/ architect by training, and Denny despite his young age was already a leader in the home renovation industry in Ontario. The brother’s-in-law joined together to form London Building Products in 1962, and later changed the name to Anden to honor the two founding partners and better reflect the larger geographic scope of the company. Through the 1960’s Anden pioneered the use of vinyl siding on residential homes, and were so successful they ended up building a plant in London, Ontario called Mastic. Anden and its founding partners diversified into other renovation specialties, including seamless eavestrough systems, insulation, replacement windows and doors, metal roofing systems and even home improvement finance.
By the early 1970’s, Anden had 8 regional offices stretching across Ontario, with locations including Windsor, London, St. Catherines, Hamilton, Oshawa, Ottawa, Sudbury and Thunder Bay. Anden pioneered many of the best home improvement products into the Canadian market. The success in home renovations was unparalleled. There were thousands of projects completed every year for over 3 decades – over 45,000 satisfied homeowners! It’s now 45 years later, and the second generation is now building on the success that Anden represents.
Marcus Plowright, Dennis’s son, is the current President of Anden Building Products. Anden today employs a diverse group of tradesmen and specializes in interior home renovations and exterior water management systems.
